What kind of warranty does my new BMW car come with?
The protection for your new BMW car is as thorough as its production.
New vehicle limited warranty: this is the most crucial warranty covering your vehicle. It lasts four years or 50,000 miles and protects against defects in materials or workmanship. If any repairs or parts replacements are needed during this warranty period, you can bring your vehicle to our authorized BMW dealership, and the work will be completed at no charge.
Rust perforation limited warranty: this warranty, which extends for 12 years with unlimited mileage, is the longest warranty covering your new BMW automobile. If, at any time during these 12 years, you discover any rust perforation on your vehicle, our service experts will repair or replace the defective part(s) free of charge.
Federal Emissions System Defect Warranty: every new BMW model sold at our Newport News, VA BMW dealership is designed, built, and equipped to conform at the time of sale with the regulations established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If your car stops conforming to EPA regulations during your first two years or 24,000 miles of ownership, schedule an appointment, and we’ll correct the defect at no charge.
What’s Not Covered by New BMW Vehicle Warranties?
New BMW vehicle warranties cover anything related to faulty design and/or engineering by the manufacturer. Everything else is the responsibility of the car owner. For example, a BMW warranty does not cover damage due to negligence or lack of maintenance. Similarly, nicks, dents, and normal deterioration such as fading or discoloration aren’t covered by warranty. Also not covered are any engine tune-up-related parts or the replacement of expired parts such as spark plugs.
What is BMW Ultimate Care?
BMW Ultimate Care is a comprehensive program that runs for the first three years/36,000 miles of new-car ownership. During this period, BMW Ultimate Care covers scheduled maintenance, such as oil and filter changes, at our certified BMW service center. Also available is Ultimate Care+, which covers scheduled maintenance, including oil and filter changes, for seven years/125,000 miles. Moreover, Ultimate Care+ covers replacing BMW parts like brake pads and wiper blades, which the other warranties would not cover.
A third option available to our customers is Ultimate Care Oil Services. This program provides three years of unlimited, prepaid oil service for a single payment of $225.
